2006 Golf Tournament Highlights

The Colorado Roofing Association held it's twenty-forth annual golf tournament at West Woods Golf Course in Arvada, Colorado and drew a field of 128 golfers on 32 teams. This year's tournament netted more than $4,200.00 to be applied towards educational scholarships at Red Rocks Community College and the Construction Management program at CSU.

This year's winning teams were:

• 1st: Mike Ortega, D&D Roofing; Dave Scheirer, Johns Manville; Brien Duroche, MonierLifetile
• 2nd: Tom Ritter, Acadamy Roofing; Chris Bowell, MonierLifetile; Ed Davis, Pinnacol Assurance; Tony Miller, Tiley Roofing
• 3rd: Bruce Stewart, Academy Roofing; Dave Rueter, GAF Materials; Darrell Mikan, Metalwest.
• 4th: Steve Pohl, Alpine Roofing; Tracy Spence, American Roofing Supply; John Weber, D&D Roofing, Inc.; Suzanne Synder, Henry Co.

Additional prizes were also awarded to our on-course contest winners:

• Closest to the pin Hole #12: Clay Hawkins, Boulder Roofing for the men and Suzanne Synder, Henry Co. for the women.
• Longest drive Hole #5: Jay Small, MonierLifetile for the men and Suzanne Synder, Henry Co. for the women.
• Longest Putt: Dave Scheirer of Johns Manville on Hole #18

The ball-in-circle challenge proved difficult for golfers. Three players out of a possible 128 players stopped their ball in the circle. The putting contest found only 7 players making the putt. The good news is that participants from these two contests donated over $600 for the two scholarships with these contests.

Additional tournament support was provided by volunteers manning the wagering contests. Erica Boyd, GAF Materials , Christina Trujillo, Fowler & Peth and Stephanie Clark of Allied Building products sat patiently watching golfers at the ball-in-circle contest on Hole No.6, while Sean Hinton, Insulfoam, Sara Morgan, Insulfoam and Stacy Nesvold of Bear Brothers Roofing took golfer's money for the putting contest. Thanks to the golf committee members Tom Cook, Bill Stearns, Gary Thereique, Larry Reinhard, Bruce Stewart, and Committee Chair Dan Kothenbeutel for their work on putting the tournament together. Debbie and Sondra with IEI also provided their expert support of the event.

Finally, a big thank you to all member companies who sponsored holes, donated prizes for the tee prizes and raffle, and for those who sent golfers to play in the tournament. The quality and quantity of the donated prizes just gets better every year. Without their generous support, we wouldn't be able to continue our tradition of giving back to the community in the form of the educational scholarships.
