Congratulations to all the 2011 winners and nominees for your excellent work. The Colorado Roofing Association (CRA) honored Curt Boyd at their 11th Annual Awards Banquet on February 16, 2012 with their esteemed Lifetime Achievement Award. Curt has been involved in the roofing industry for 40 years and can probably go another 40 years. He says there "is no time to slow down when he enjoys going to work every day and there are still plenty of roofs to cover." The Job of the Year Award is given in four divisions. Winners this year included Arapahoe Roofing & Sheet Metal, B&M Roofing of Colorado, Black Roofing, Boulder Roofing, D&D Monarch Sheet Metal, Roof Check, Inc. and Tecta America Colorado. Faced with a challenging 3 month reroof, Roof Check Inc. took First Place in Division I for their tough and complex reroofing project on the Boiler House at the Suncor facility. Boulder Roofing received a Second Place award in Division I for their outstanding custom work on a stunning mountain home in Sunshine Canyon known now as the "Slip-n-Slide" roof. Arapahoe Roofing & Sheet Metals wins First Place in Division II for their work on the Sanctuary and Chapel of the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Collins - a difficult project that required the removal of 1800 sq. ft. of asbestos shingles on a 20:12 pitch roof. For a landmark, multi-phase project that included low slope, steep slope and metal roofing, B&M Roofing of Colorado takes Second Place in Division II for the new church built for St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church parishioners. The dramatic and unique copper roof and gutter system on the Driscoll Street Bridge earns D&D Monarch Sheet Metal first place in Division III for their outstanding and high profile job at the University of Denver. Parapet walls, asbestos removal, difficulties in loading & disposal and rusting decks did not deter Arapahoe Roofing & Sheet Metal from bringing home second prize in Division III for their ultra complicated roofing system on the TriState Generation Power Plant in Craig. For an amazingly difficult and complex project that included 89,000 sq. ft., over 21,000 man hours, 4 flat roof systems, 96 different roof areas, 650 squares of the familiar 18" Ludowici s-tile, all spread over 18 months, Black Roofing received First Place in Division IV for their outstanding work at the Jennie Smoly Caruthers Bio-Technology Building at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Tecta America Colorado takes Second Place in Division IV for a complex multi-faceted "Green" vegetative and flat roofing system installed on the Student Success Building of Metropolitan State College that included 4 different types of flat roofing, 8 different roof decks and 17 roof areas. The Job of the Year Award was established in 2001 to recognize the outstanding work done by members of the Colorado Roofing Association. These jobs are showcased each February at CRA's Annual Awards Dinner and highlight the work that is being done in the roofing industry and honors the contractors, material distributors and manufacturers who see these projects through to completion. CONGRATULATIONS and a BIG THANK YOU to all CRA members for another successful evening celebrating the best of Colorado's roofing industry. CRA 2012 Awards Banquet Photo Gallery Hall
